About

A Gig’s A Gig chronicles a year of gig-going in London and beyond. Brand New Guy lives in South London and is in his 40s. He hopes you enjoy this year in music too. As Neil Young once said, “Live music is better.”

Don’t you be pickin’ on the Guy guy, Paulie.

Good on ya, Guy. Quite electic tastes for a 40-something. 🙂

I’ve only just found your site Guy and I’m bloody impressed by both the amount of gigs you go to, and by the quality of the writing. Keep it up, me laddo!

LOL – that was one of my grandmother’s favourite quotes. She must have learned it when she lived on Islay between the ages of 4 and about 12… the family are still remembered at the Bunnahabhain distillery as her father was the bonded warehouseman 🙂

Hi Matt, Glad you like it 🙂 I might do it for more than a year, but I’m commitment-phobic, so who knows 🙂

Hi, I’m Allan and I work in the Press dept. for an independent label in South London. I noticed you featured one of our artists on your site and wanted to say hello! We’ve got some great artists playing London fairly soon, so if you’d like to get a guestlist spot so you can have a look/listen and maybe feature some stuff on your blog please get in touch. x

Guy, nice site. I tried to do something similar in the late 90’s, though struggled with the writing.

Thanks, Andrew. Yes, it’s a bit of a commitment, but I’m enjoying it so far. I’ll see if I feel the same by the end of the year 🙂

Hello Guy. Just wanted to say how much I’ve enjoyed your blog. Will you be continuing it this year? If not, can you be found anywhere else on the web?

Thanks, Helene 🙂 I decided just to do the blog for a year and it ended up taking too much time as it was, so no, that’s it. But I have got a new (occasional) blog The Riddles Of Aldhelm, which will include a lot of music stuff. Will you be Memory Banding at the Slaughtered Lamb next week?
